He was born and raised in Sierra Leone from an authoring missionary family that proves his inheritance of been a young innovative self motivating change maker who started exploring his poetry talent at the age of 8years when he wrote his first poem "Joyful Kids". His Great Grandfather; “White” Koroma a regular writer to the Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, Grand Father, Dr. Simeon Owiz Koroma is Sierra Leone’s senior Pathologist and his Grand mother was a well known Sierra Leonean missionary and philanthropist. As such Sheka’s family traits are now manifesting in his activities.
Sheka B.A Mansaray Jr. attended five different primary schools, first in Kamabai village, then in Magburaka, Mile 91, Moyamba and sat to the NPSE at the St. Francis Primary school, Makeni. As such his child hood education bought him a wealth of multi-cultural experiences.
His high school education was at the St. Francis Secondary School, Makeni, a widely known school of many languages, where he earned the ability to speak good English and French as a second language.
He graduated from the College of Business Studies in 2001 after which he did his furtther studies in Accounting and Finance and graduted from the same college in 2009. In addition he holds agood number of professional training on Human Rights, Social Work and Youth Development
Sheka started his working life as a volunteer in the social fields with Peace child Sierra Leone, later as a volunteer in Action Positive, Conakry Guinea.
Back home, Sheka together with Belgian born Elka Vandamme conducted series of research on the causes and effect of living in slums, bays and wharfs by children missing from their homes and in February 2009 Sheka conducted a research that produced a video documentary on having the most appropriate selfless approach towards bringing positive change in the lives of marginalized, deprived and disadvantaged children, youth and women in poor communities [ Portee, community, Eastern part of Freetown as a case study]
Following this heart driven researches Sheka issued free publications in the street of twelve poems presenting the result of the research.
He made his first media attention on the then United Nations Radio at the Mammy Yoko Hotel, Aberdeen, an interview once described as the 21st CENTURY DISCUSS OF INNOVATION and it was during this interview he promise to establish ART RESOURCEFUL TOURISM SIERRA LEONE [ARTSL]
“Presently Sheka is a grandson who has been the youngest public speaking icon I have ever heard or seen with an inherited spirit of advocacy”- Dr. S.O Koroma. This statement came up after a public lecture on Human Right held by ARTSL as Sheka B.A Mansaray Jr. as host and British Human Right Activist, Rodney T Lowe from Sweden as Guest.

In the launch of the Waterloo branch of ARTSL Functional Literacy Center, Sierra Leone’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister’s Spokesman and Personal Assistant, Mr. Abdulai Bayraytay said “ Sheka needs more to do we know, but if age really matters, he had already achieved much more that guys in their 40s and beyond, especially so when his work is selflessly driven towards changing other people’s lives” During a youthful gathering at Collins Internet Café’ Everad Randall and Ibrahim Seneca Conteh once said “ Sheka is a noble and humble friend that is very progressing indeed”.
These various statements about Sheka were and are commonly heard in is residing community, where he never fails to place change as a priority and his leadership role eminently felt in his innovative planning, organizing, directing, controlling and supervising of community activities. Sheka is known as an eloquent speaker who had spoken in primary and secondary schools around the country, in tertiary institutions and other public lecture sessions.
Sheka B.A Mansaray Jr. is presently Founder and Executive Director of ARTSL and yet serve as a voluntary aid worker in the Sierra Leone Canadian Children’ Aid Society, as a Youth Leader for the B-GIFTED Foundation, Broadcaster/presenter of the Youth Transition School radio program on Citizen FM 103.7. Freetown.
